Oidhreacht an Chláir (OaC)
Invite applications for a 12 month contract for
A Cultural Projects Animator in Co. Clare.
Objective: To promote the enterprises of OaC worldwide.
Target: To promote all aspects of the OaC profile
Outcome: Establishment of a sustainable enterprise.
Time line: 12 months commencing 2nd April 2012
Budget: €30,000 inclusive of VAT, travel and subsistence, funded by CLDC, Leader
Proposal:
It is proposed to undertake a sustained programme of animation over a twelve-month period which will promote the public profile of OaC. This work will include all aspects of Public Relations, fundraising, sourcing of grant aid / sponsorship, and educational course development. This work will include the development of links with other cultural and educational institutions.
Resources:
A grant of €30,000 has been awarded by CLDC through the LEADER RDP to employ a qualified Animator for 12 months. An additional grant of €5,000 to cover all other costs including guest speakers, room rental and promotion is also available. The position is dependent on the continued payment of this grant for the contract period.
Fully equipped office facilities are available at Áras OaC, in Miltown Malbay.
Responsibilities:
A commitment of not less than 20 hours per week will be expected. Mutually suitable flexible time arrangements may apply.
The animator will progress the general aims of OaC, which are:
· the establishment of an institute for education in the traditional culture of Clare, with an emphasis on the higher education and lifelong learning sectors
· the provision of a permanent, easily accessible, archive and library for material relevant to the traditional arts, local history, folklore and culture
· the provision of a performance centre and associated facilities
· the provision of an interpretive centre for the culture of Clare
In particular the Animator will be involved in the following areas:
- The running and promotion of OaC activities
- Liaise with the Board of Management and other OaC personnel
- Provide a link between OaC and other potential partners
- Fundraising and sourcing of grants
- Development of interpretative centre for the culture of the region
- Prepare regular management reports on progress and a final report on the outcome of the project
- Progress existing initiatives for development of educational courses
- IT management , including development of a presence for OaC on social media and the existing OaC website
The expertise of the existing OaC board will be at the disposal of the animator.
Successful Applicant:
The successful applicant will report to the board of OaC, will have a proven interest in the culture and heritage of Clare, a broad range of organisational and communication skills and will be able to work as part of a team and on their own initiative.
The position requires a good knowledge of the geography of the county, provision of own transport, with a full driving licence.
The animator, who will be employed on a contract basis, must provide a current Tax Clearance Certificate and evidence of Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Familiarity with the Irish language would be an advantage.
Remuneration:
The remuneration under the contract is set at €30,000.
